‘Traxler formulates this landscape of mind and potency of memory with threaded floating geometric shards within a three dimensional set of frames.’

We are all from somewhere - the landscape of our lives, the scenery we hold in our hearts, the places we pass through.

My installation piece formulates this landscape of mind and potency of memory with stitched and threaded floating geometric shapes within a three dimensional set of frames.

Taking the components of the West Gallery landscape, its ceiling beams and shadows, echoing it as light and volume within the 360 panorama that has been created. The palette of the piece is in wanderings around the buildings perimeter, red brickwork, slate tiles with ochre lichen of time attached, the textured pavement below. With these as landscape in the present the installation also binds my own landscape of past – the numbers stencilled on the gallery wall echo the grid reference from an old London map – ‘20’ being the marker line running through my home town as a child.

'I was drawn to Hockney’s revisiting of his landscape in Bridlington and how it moved him to create his latest body of work. Even in the smallest, simplest corner we can find an essence of home, a landscape of ourselves.
