An outstanding collection of drawings, prints and paintings from Southampton City Art Gallery comes to Quay Arts for The Drawing Process this autumn.

The collection, donated by the late Philip Schlee (1924-2011) comprises over 40 works by artists working in Britain between 1920 and 2004, including Frank Auerbach, David Hockney, Elisabeth Frink, Henry Moore, Graham Sutherland and Gillian Ayres.

Current works from artists living on the Isle of Wight are displayed amongst the collection, complementing the different drawing methodologies, whilst examining the role of drawing within contemporary visual arts practice.

The Drawing Process coincides with the world’s largest drawing festival in October, The Big Draw.

The Drawing Process is supported by Arts Council England, The Big Draw, Southampton City Council.
