‘Championing contemporary artists, and providing them with a platform to showcase and develop their practice, is at the very heart of the Affordable Art Fair. Eight selected artists exhibit a series of large-scale, curated installations for the ‘Platform Projects’ at the Affordable Art Fair, Spring 2017, Battersea.’

I have been invited to exhibit my ‘PAPERSCAPES’ as one of the Platform Projects artists in the entrance atrium.

The ‘Platform Projects’ artists, Spring 2017:
Patrick Murphy, Sally Buchanan, Jonathan Hillson, Chloe Manasseh, Esther Robinson, Sean Clark, Dolly Kershaw, Lisa Traxler.

The PAPERSCAPE installation is located over two area in the entrance atrium both 5 x 5 metres and suspended from the venue overhead rigging.

Title: ‘TIME CHAMBER - YOU CAN HEAR THE BIRDS SING’

1,292 A4 laser copied images stitched together, swooping, soaring as if in flight. The nature of paper and fine thread drawing through the space creating sculptural forms. These ethereal sewn paper pieces represent thought processes, personal memories, tethered in place before they disappear from recollection - the images repeat, as memories do, stills from a black and white movie of life. The abstracted images are based on archival reference into WWI Dazzle Camouflage and echo notions of recall and occurrence.

This Paperscape installation is dedicated to my friend, fellow artist, Hilary Hayton, who passed away last year with the progressive disease, dementia.
