Disguise and Disruption in War and Art
16 June - 23 September 2018

St. Barbe Museum + Art Gallery
New Street, Lymington, Hampshire SO41

Two of my ‘Beauty Chorus’ enamel and steel sculptures in this interesting exhibition. This unique show looks at the development of Dazzle and features original ship models, Dazzle plans and artworks including works by Norman Wilkinson, Edward Wadsworth, Montague Dawson and many more. The works and models are on loan from the Imperial War Museum, National Maritime Museum & British Museum as well as regional and private collections.
This unique exhibition tells the fascinating story of how the use of patterning on warships was introduced in the First World War to confuse U-boat commanders as to the speed and direction of the vessels, the ‘Art of Confusion’ .
